Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun Manga Returns to Serialization After 10-Month Hiatus

The Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun manga is set to resume serialization on August 18 with the September 2026 issue of Square Enix’s Monthly GFantasy, marking the end of a hiatus lasting around 10 months.

The manga had been on hold since the release of the issue in November 2025 due to the health and medical treatment of creator AidaIro. During this break, GFantasy reissued earlier chapters.

AidaIro confirmed the return on X prior to the release of the new issue, stating that Hanako-kun will continue serialization and asking readers for their ongoing support.

The manga has now exceeded 10 million copies in circulation throughout the series. It also received a TV anime adaptation, with its first season airing in 2020 and its second season starting in 2025. The After-School Hanako-kun spin-off manga, created by the same authors, launched in 2018 and has also been adapted into an anime. Yen Press is handling the English publication of both titles.

Crunchyroll is streaming both Toilet-bound Hanako-kun and the After-School Hanako-kun short anime, summarizing the story for the former as follows:
Kamome Academy is said to harbor many mysteries, the most peculiar of which involves the mischievous ghost of Hanako-kun. When Nene Yashiro, a high schooler with a passion for the occult, accidentally bonds with him, she uncovers a secret world of supernatural entities. Together, they endeavor to maintain harmony between the student body and the supernatural—if only they can manage to stay out of trouble themselves.
