What is Japan’s Golden age?
The Edo Period in Japan (1603-1868) was a time of great progress and prosperity, often referred to as Japan's "Golden Age". It saw major political, economic and social changes that transformed Japan into a unified nation-state with a strong central government. Improvements in farming techniques, technological advances such as fertilizers and irrigation systems, increased trade networks and flourishing art forms allowed for increased wealth and cultural development during this period. The Meiji Restoration in 1868 marked the end of the Edo Period, opening up Japan's borders once again to foreign trade which helped spur further economic growth.
