Itachi: Haunted Abodes, An Adventure Game About Stigmatized Japanese Property, To Launch on Steam in 2027

Kyoto-based indie developer and publisher room6 has unveiled a “suspense adventure game” titled Itachi: Haunted Abodes Wandering Through 2000s Tokyo Culture. It’s planned to launch on Steam in 2027 with language options for Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.

Itachi is the name of one of the key characters, a college student who undertakes a part-time job that requires him to live in stigmatized properties. The other character is Tanuki, a real estate agent who is utilizing Itachi to attract Landgods, “a type of spectre haunting the houses of those who passed away far from their hometown.” The main objective of the game is to gather information so Tanuki can exorcise the Landgods — mess up too much, and Itachi will face repercussions.

To accomplish the task, players must investigate details such as the Landgods’ “name, their place of origin, and the cause of death of the individual they followed to this residence.” Itachi lacks supernatural abilities but can utilize his communication skills as he searches for clues “in various subculture scenes.” On the contrary, Tanuki can gather information by dealing with Landgod assaults.
