Yuki Inaba (KamiKatsu: Working for God in a Godless World) is at the helm of the anime series, with Shunsuke Ishikawa and Yuki Inaba as the series scriptwriters and Kaori Yoshikawa (KamiKatsu: Working for God in a Godless World) serving as the character designer and chief animation director. Studio Palette collaborated with SILVER LINK for the animation production of season two.
The anime is adapted from the fantasy romance light novel series penned by Kei Sazane and illustrated by Ao Nekonabe. Its initial publication by Fujimi Shobo’s Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint took place on May 20, 2017, with 16 main volumes released as of October 2024. The light novels have also inspired a manga adaptation, which ran from May 2018 to March 2021, resulting in seven tankobon volumes.
The first season of Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World premiered in 2020 and was initially available for worldwide streaming on Funimation, before moving to Crunchyroll, which is also airing the second season globally.
