This article examines the city in Japan with the highest crime rate, Osaka, as well as the contributing factors to this high rate of crime. These include poverty, unemployment, drug abuse, organized crime syndicates, and social alienation. Strategies to reduce these high rates of crime are discussed such as increasing police presence, providing resources to those living below poverty levels, implementing stricter punishments for those convicted, and providing educational programs about safety measures.
