What grade would a 13 year old be in Japan?
In Japan, the grade level system starts from elementary school and is divided into three levels: primary school (grades 1-3), middle school (grades 4-6) and high school (grades 7-9). A 13 year old would be enrolled in the 7th grade of middle school according to Japanese standards, but there may be additional requirements depending on which institution they are enrolled in. Parents or guardians must provide proof of residence along with proof that their child was born within the last 3 months before entering into primary/elementary school at 6 years old. Additionally, entrance exams may also be required.
