This article explores the loyalty of Japanese workers, which is known to be strong and long-term, due to laws protecting worker rights, seniority-based promotion systems, generous benefits packages and rewards for loyalty. It also examines some of the challenges associated with maintaining loyalty in Japan such as increased competition, an aging population and technological advances. Examples of successful companies that have achieved success through loyalty are provided, along with an overview of the Japanese business culture and how it encourages loyalty.
