This article explores the age gap for dating in Japan and how it has been influenced by culture, social media, and traditional views. It discusses the average age gap for dating in Japan (usually around five years or less), the difference between men and women’s preferences, the impact of social media on age gap preferences, traditional views on age gaps in Japan, and how to find a partner with an acceptable age gap. It concludes that although traditional views may still exist among some generations, overall larger age gaps are becoming more accepted due largely thanks to technology which allows us access potential partners without having face-to-face contact first hand.
