This article examines the prevalence of missing persons in Japan, discussing the reasons why people go missing, the types of missing persons, and steps taken by Japanese authorities to reduce the number. It is estimated that around 60,000 people are reported as missing each year in Japan, with children aged 0-14 accounting for 48% of all cases and adults aged 15-64 accounting for 37%. Steps taken to reduce this number include increased public awareness campaigns and better tracking systems such as GPS devices.
