This article examines why Japanese children are so disciplined, focusing on the role of education, respect for authority, social conformity, parental expectations, positive reinforcement techniques, and the benefits of discipline for children in Japan. Education plays a major role in shaping the behavior of Japanese children by teaching them to be obedient and compliant with rules and regulations set by their teachers. Respect for authority figures is another factor that contributes to discipline as it is customary for people to show respect towards those who are higher up in the hierarchy. Social conformity also plays an important role as there is a strong pressure placed upon individuals to conform with societal norms and expectations. Parental involvement is also important as they use positive reinforcement techniques such as praising good behavior and providing rewards. Finally, having well-disciplined behaviour has numerous benefits such as improving academic performance, reducing disruptive behaviour in classrooms, promoting responsible decision making skills, and helping build self confidence amongst those involved.
