This article explores the cultural and historical reasons why the Japanese tend to speak softly. It looks at respectful communication, group dynamics in Japanese society, the importance of silence in Japanese culture, and how technology has impacted soft speech in Japan. It is concluded that these factors have created an environment where softer voices are preferred over louder ones, allowing those who prefer softer tones more freedom when expressing themselves without fear of judgement from those around them.
