This article looks at the various factors that contribute to why Japanese people work such long hours, including historical context, cultural influences, economic pressures, technological advancements, government policies and regulations, and globalization. It also provides potential solutions for both employers and employees to reduce long working hours in Japan. The article ultimately concludes that with a collective effort from both parties it is possible to create more balance between personal and professional obligations within Japan.
