Is PDA frowned upon in Japan?
Public displays of affection (PDA) are not universally accepted in Japan due to the country's emphasis on harmony, respect, and dignity. PDA is often perceived as an invasion of personal space and disruptive to social harmony. Cultural differences in the acceptance of physical touch and intimacy also play a role, along with societal expectations of appropriate behavior in public spaces. While there has been a shift towards more liberal attitudes towards PDA among younger generations, conservative attitudes still prevail among older generations. Ultimately, individuals must respect cultural norms and expectations when deciding whether or not to engage in PDA in Japan.
