Tougen Anki is scheduled to premiere in Japan on July 11 JST. The anime is adapted from the Akita Shoten-published manga by Yura Urushibara, which began serialization in Weekly Shonen Champion in 2020 and has 24 volumes as of June 2025. Yen Press outlines the manga’s synopsis as:
Shiki Ichinose’s blood is Oni, while his father’s is Momotarou. Typically, those with Momotarou blood hunt the Oni—but Shiki’s father chose not to kill him as a child. Instead, he adopted Shiki and nurtured him despite the rebellious spirit and dangerous temperament associated with Oni blood. When a member of the Momotarou Agency murders Shiki’s father, Shiki vows to take revenge. However, as he sharpens his abilities and seeks to master his Oni blood, will he possess the strength to face the threats that await him…?

Tougen Anki  previously inspired a stage play adaptation, described as the first phase of the Tougen Anki project (the anime represents the second phase). The anime had its world premiere at AFA Indonesia 2025.
