The latest game inspired by the Natsume’s Book of Friends series, Natsume’s Book of Friends: Hazuki no Shirushi, has unveiled a new trailer. It highlights various activities and game mechanics featured in the game. The release date is set for June 5, 2025 JST on the Nintendo Switch and Steam.
Fans are now able to pre-order and add the game to their Steam wishlist. Natsume’s Book of Friends: Hazuki no Shirushi is also available for download in the Japanese Nintendo E-shop. Please note that a Japanese account is necessary to purchase the game.
In Natsume’s Book of Friends: Hazuki no Shirushi, players take on the role of Takeshi Natsume during one month of his summer break. Throughout this time, players can explore the same town depicted in the anime series and engage in various activities such as socializing with friends, giving gifts, and playing different mini-games alongside Nyanko-sensei.

Natsume’s Book of Friends is a supernatural mystery manga series crafted by Yuki Midorikawa. It initially debuted as a one-shot manga in June 2003 before being serialized as a complete series in July 2007 in LaLa magazine. The series has inspired anime adaptations, OVAs, and two anime films. As of May 2025, there are thirty-two volumes of the manga.
Crunchyroll is streaming all seven seasons of the anime. Viz Media is responsible for licensing and publishing the manga in English.
Takashi Natsume can see youkai, which are Japanese monsters, throughout his life. He has inherited a book of youkai names from his grandmother, Reiko. These names grant their owner power over the youkai, leading him and his self-proclaimed bodyguard “Nyanko-sensei” to spend their time returning them to their rightful owners. As Natsume finally discovers a place where he feels accepted, he encounters and bids farewell to new Youkai….
