Crunchyroll revealed that it will debut a new documentary film named The Roots of To Your Eternity, in advance of the forthcoming third season of To Your Eternity, which is set to air in Japan on October 4, 2025. The Roots of To Your Eternity will start streaming on Crunchyroll from August 29, 2025.
The announcement took place during the To Your Eternity Season 3 panel at Anime NYC, featuring key cast members Reiji Kawashima and Kenjiro Tsuda.
Crunchyroll is offering streaming for both seasons of To Your Eternity and summarises the first season’s main plot as:
In the beginning, an “orb” is cast unto Earth. “It” can perform two actions: change into the form of whatever stimulates “it”; and come back to life after dying. “It” shifts from orb to rock, then to wolf, and ultimately to boy, wandering like a newborn without knowledge. As a boy, “it” becomes Fushi.
Through the kindness of humans, Fushi acquires survival skills and evolves as a “person”. However, his journey is overshadowed by the inexplicable and destructive foe Nokker, as well as the painful farewells with loved ones.
