The upcoming Champignon no Majo TV anime has released a main trailer and key visual.
It was announced that Yuki Sakakihara voices the mysterious boy Rize, whom the witch Luna encounters.
The anime, premiering in January 2026, adapts the manga by Tachibana Higuchi. The plot revolves around the feared witch Luna (Haruka Shiraishi), known as the Mushroom Witch (Champignon no Majo) because of the poisonous mushrooms that grow in her wake.
The Hakusensha-published manga started serialization in Manga Park in 2019 and has six tankobon volumes as of December 2024.

In August, one of the Champignon no Majo anime’s main animation production studios, Qzil.la, faced accusations of utilizing AI in the recently revealed Sekiro: No Defeat anime due to its background work. The studio’s website discusses the development of AI technology in collaboration with various partners, and a (now-unavailable) post on the Niigata International Animation Film Festival’s website mentioned an AI-themed presentation involving Qzil.la and Comics Mart, indicating that AI was used to create 60% of the animation for the upcoming The Ideal Sponger Life TV anime.
Regarding Sekiro, Qzil.la released a statement affirming that no generative AI was employed in its creation, and a previous press release indicated that the anime was “fully hand-drawn.”
