Synopsis: Deep within the uncharted depths of the dungeon, a corpse named Iarumas is uncovered. After his resurrection, Iarumas is devoid of all memories from his past life and is compelled to spend his time exploring the dungeon, earning a finder’s fee for recovering the remains of deceased adventurers. His expertise quickly earns him a modicum of respect, even as he faces disdain for his detached and pragmatic demeanor.
Due to the living shunning him, Iarumas primarily associates with the deceased. That is until he encounters Garbage, a wild young swordswoman and the lone survivor of a brutal massacre. With Garbage accompanying him, Iarumas resolves to delve deeper, searching the dungeon for hints about his past while evading monsters, traps, and the looming threat of a permanent demise by divine retribution.
Blade & Bastard draws from the now six-volume light novel series penned by Kagyu and illustrated by so-bin, which debuted in December 2022 under Drecom Media’s DRE Novel and is inspired by the Wizardry role-playing video games franchise published by Drecom Co., Ltd. The English edition of the light novels is available in both print and digital formats from Yen Press and J Novel Club, respectively.
In June 2023, a subsequent manga series launched on Drecom Media’s DRE Comics site and currently has eight volumes, with the English version of the manga offered in both print and digital formats from Yen Press.
