Earlier this week, Kogyo Tsushin reported that the anime film has grossed over 2.9 billion yen (~US19.5 million) in Japan since its release on September 19 JST. Chainsaw Man — The Movie: Reze Arc has also topped the Japanese weekend box office during its first two weekends.

Unlike the previous series, Tatsuya Yoshihara (Chainsaw Man action director, Black Clover series director [later chief director], Wistoria: Wand and Sword Season 1) took on the directorial role for the film.
It has premiered in several nations outside of Japan and will start screening in North America on October 24.

Chainsaw Man is adapted from the Shueisha-published supernatural action manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto, which Viz Media summarizes as follows:
Denji is a financially struggling young man who will do anything for money, including hunting down devils with his pet devil Pochita. Living a simple life filled with simple dreams, he is overwhelmed by debt. However, his mundane existence is turned upside down when he is betrayed by someone he trusts. With the devil’s power within him, Denji transforms into a completely new being—Chainsaw Man!
The initial part of the manga ran from 2018 to 2021 in Weekly Shonen Jump. The ongoing second installment began on the Shonen Jump+ platform in July 2022. There are currently 22 volumes available as of September 2025.
