Image source: CyberAgent websiteCyberAgent has revealed the formation of Studio Kurm, an innovative animation production facility based in Tokyo. The studio is headed by producer Maiko Okada (Yaiba: Samurai Legend and Ranking of Kings animation producer).
A few key points mentioned by CyberAgent regarding the establishment of Studio Kurm include:

• The goal of creating a space that enables talented young artists to thrive further
• The objective of ensuring fair returns
• The purpose of exploring new forms of animation expressions
In a press release statement, Okada noted that animator Yoshimichi Kameda (Yaiba: Samurai Legend and Mob Psycho 100 character designer, DAN DA DAN designer for aliens and yokai) will become part of the team as creative representative in January 2026. This decision aims to achieve the “‘maximalization of creators’ value.’”
Okada also expressed concerns that anime production might become unfeasible due to the expanding market and the ever-increasing pressures on production settings. They indicated that Studio Kurm is committed to building a sustainable production model and elevating Japan’s animation culture to the “next stage.”
