The movie’s first installment is set to premiere on October 10 JST, while the second will be available on October 31 JST. Golden Kamuy: The Final Chapter is scheduled to begin its Japanese broadcast in January 2026.
Golden Kamuy is adapted from the Shueisha-published historical adventure manga created by Satoru Noda, which was serialized from 2014 to 2022, encompassing 31 volumes. It appeared in Weekly Young Jump and is published under the Young Jump Comics label.
Viz Media summarizes the manga as:
In the early twentieth century, Russo-Japanese War veteran Saichi “Immortal” Sugimoto ekes out a meager existence during the postwar gold rush in the wilderness of Hokkaido. Upon discovering a map leading to a hidden treasure of Ainu gold, he embarks on a perilous quest to unearth it. However, he is not the only one interested in the gold, and those aware of its existence will go to deadly lengths to claim it! Confronted with the unforgiving conditions of the northern wilderness, merciless outlaws, and rogue Japanese soldiers, Sugimoto must rely on all his skills and luck—and the assistance of an Ainu girl named Asirpa—to survive.
