© Orange Inc. Orange Inc. has unveiled the new manga app emaqi available for download in the U.S. and Canada. Users can now get the app on the iOS App and Google Play store.
The emaqi app boasts over 13,000 manga volumes from various leading Japanese publishers, around 1,700 series, and nearly 50 exclusive titles, with additional titles anticipated. Notable publishers include VIZ Media, Kodansha USA, Yen Press, Akita Shoten, Futabasha, Shonen Gahosha, Nihon Bungeisha, COAMIX, and others.
Among the 50 exclusive titles featured on emaqi are Anjo the Mischievous Gal, The Vampire Dies in No Time, and Liverleaf. Orange Inc. has also announced that 100 previously untranslated manga series will be incorporated into the app by the end of 2025.
Highlights of the emaqi app include:

Users can browse leisurely within the app by moving through personalized recommended titles with vertical swipes and quickly switch between various works through horizontal swipes.
Personalized Recommendations
Tailored suggestions based on previously read titles will be displayed on both the home and “Dig” screens, helping readers unearth new works.
Personalized Bookshelf
Easy access to reading history, purchased works, and favorites within the app.
Automatic Text Enlargement Feature (Coming Soon)
A smartphone-optimized reading experience is being developed, allowing text size adjustment without disturbing the manga’s speech bubble frames, original artwork, and expressions.
Orange Inc. is also running a limited-time campaign to commemorate the launch of the emaqi app, effective from May 28, 2025, at 9:00 AM EST until July 8, 2025, at 11:59 PM EDT. The campaign details are as follows:
- • Read up to three volumes for free from 10 of VIZ Media’s most beloved series such as Naruto, My Hero Academia, One Piece, and others.
- • Access all emaqi-exclusive translated titles with a “Wait Until Free” model — unlock one chapter every 23 hours at no charge.
- • Receive 50% coin-back on purchases, limited to 25,000 coins per user.
reported in May 2024 that Orange Inc. was preparing to launch emaqi as an e-bookstore service during Summer 2024. The company was said to be utilizing AI technology for initial Japanese-to-English translations, with native-speaking translators and editors refining the translations and completing the work. The aim was to “increase localization capacity by 10 or 100 times” from its current levels.The emaqi e-bookstore service was subsequently launched in the U.S. and Canada in September 2024, where it announced a collaboration with Shueisha to localize and distribute one-shot manga titles from Shonen Jump+ in English multiple times each week.
Orange Inc. reiterated with Anime News Network that it will continue to leverage AI-assisted translation to support [its] in-house team of nearly 20 human translators and that “no more than 10 percent of the content on emaqi will be translated using AI support at launch.” The company declared that it would persist in evaluating its strategy moving forward.
