This position will be shared with NTT Docomo, which owns 5.22% of IG Port’s stakes prior to the deal.
IG Port will raise 1,625,925,000 yen (~US$11.2 million) through a third-party allotment, with payment set for July 3 JST. After covering expenses, 1.006 billion yen will be allocated as working capital, and 605 million yen will go toward capital investment.
The collaboration between IG Port and Sanrio aims to develop works based on Sanrio’s IP character, utilizing the production to enhance the training of creatives.
Additionally, the partnership will explore business opportunities related to characters from the IG Port portfolio, including media-mix expansions and co-development of new IP. Plans also include a potential “re-design” of existing IP.

The capital and business alliance deal was announced and formalized on June 17 JST, occurring about a month ahead of the July 24 Netflix release of the My Melody & Kuromi animated series, produced by IG Port’s WIT STUDIO through its new TORUKU from WIT STUDIO stop motion studio/line.
