This article examines the causes, prevalence and treatments of balding in Japan. It has been found that 70% of Japanese men experience some degree of baldness by the age of 50, making it more common than in other countries. Causes include genetics, hormones, age, diet, lifestyle choices and environmental toxins. Treatment options range from topical solutions to surgical procedures such as transplantation surgery or scalp reduction surgery. There is also an increasing acceptance in Japanese culture towards baldness and those who suffer from hair loss.
