This article explored the various factors that contributed to Japan's remarkable recovery from World War II. It discussed the Reverse Course reforms enacted by the United States, the Japanese economic miracle of 1955-1973, and the role of US forces in helping to rebuild Japan after 1945. Additionally, it examined Japan's current economic situation and how it has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic as well as some of the challenges that may impede future progress.
