What level of Japanese can Duolingo get you to?
Duolingo's Japanese language course is divided into five levels covering hiragana, greetings, sentence structures, grammar points, common phrases, food and dining vocabulary and animal-related vocabulary. However, completing all five levels will only give a basic understanding of the language and additional resources such as textbooks and speaking practice with native speakers are necessary to achieve fluency. While there are benefits to using Duolingo for learning Japanese such as building a foundation of knowledge for free, drawbacks include limited speaking practice and insufficient context for some grammar points.
