Sunshine Girl is an English term adopted into Japanese culture which describes a young woman who has a sunny disposition and always looks on the bright side of life. It was first popularized by Japanese manga artist Takashi Okazaki in 2003, and since then it has been widely used to refer to someone with an upbeat attitude or outlook on life despite any obstacles they may face.
