This article examines the US-Japan security alliance and whether or not the United States still provides protection to Japan. It looks at the historical context of US-Japan relations, the current state of US-Japan relations, the US military presence in Japan, the Mutual Defense Treaty between the two countries, the role of the United Nations in security cooperation between them, and other forms of security cooperation. The article finds that while there may be some disagreements between them from time to time due to different perspectives and cultural backgrounds, overall their relationship remains strong based on mutual trust, understanding, respect and a shared commitment to maintaining regional and global peace, stability, prosperity and progress for all citizens worldwide.
