What is Japan’s weakness?
This article explores the various economic, political, social, environmental, technological and cultural weaknesses of Japan. These include its dependence on exports for growth, aging population, centralized political system with little chance for other parties to gain power or influence policy decisions, social stratification with a large gap between rich and poor citizens and different ethnic groups facing discrimination, environmental vulnerability due to natural disasters such as earthquakes and tsunamis, technological lag behind other countries in areas such as AI research, and cultural attitudes towards outsiders which can be seen as insular. Companies looking to do business in Japan should take these weaknesses into consideration when making decisions about investments or operations within Japanese markets.
