This article explored the various beliefs about the afterlife held by Japanese people, as well as how these beliefs have been influenced by religion and culture. It discussed Shintoism and Buddhism, which both believe in an afterlife or reincarnation cycle, as well as Christianity which emphasizes living a good life to receive eternal life after death. Funeral rituals are also popular among Japanese people regardless of their religious beliefs or lack thereof when it comes to the afterlife.
