This article explores the concept of gender roles in Japan, tracing its historical roots and examining the current state of gender equality in the country. Despite efforts to promote gender equality, traditional cultural norms and values continue to reinforce gender-based expectations for both men and women. Gender-based violence is also a serious issue in Japan. The article highlights the role of education in promoting diversity and inclusion from a young age, as well as the need for sustained efforts from government, non-governmental organizations, and individuals to create a more inclusive and equitable society for all members regardless of their gender.
