This article examines the complexities of race in Japan, exploring the historical context, current perceptions of race, common misconceptions about the Japanese race, racial discrimination in Japan and cultural aspects of being part of the Japanese race. It highlights that while racism does exist within some parts of society, discrimination based on skin color or physical characteristics is not very common among most people living in Japan today. Finally it emphasizes that everyone should strive towards creating a more tolerant world where everyone feels accepted regardless their background or ethnicity.
