This article compares the difficulty of learning French and Japanese, looking at various aspects such as grammar, pronunciation, writing system and cultural differences. It is found that French has a more complex grammar with verb conjugations and noun gender agreement while Japanese has simpler grammar but relies heavily on kanji characters borrowed from Chinese which can be difficult for some learners. Additionally, French pronunciation can be tricky due to its use of nasal vowels, silent letters and multiple regional accents while Japanese pronunciation relies more heavily on vowel length distinctions rather than consonant sounds. Ultimately it is up to each individual learner to decide which language would be easier for them depending on their native accent or dialectal background.
