Image source: Bandai ChannelThe classic sci-fi anime films Patlabor: The Movie and Patlabor 2: The Movie are set to receive special 4K limited editions featuring both English dub and sub options. The initial film is scheduled for release in Japan on January 28, 2026 JST, with the sequel following on March 25, 2026 JST.
These 4K remaster collections will come with a regular Blu-ray disc, a booklet, and a storyboard collection. Audio will be provided in Dolby TrueHD (5.1).
Both editions will retail for 14,300 yen (~US$96.88) including tax. They will be available for purchase on A-on STORE and Premium Bandai.
In addition to the remaster collections, revival 4K screenings for both films have been announced in Japan. The first Patlabor film will begin its screenings on October 3 JST, and the second will commence on October 17 JST.

Patlabor: The Movie and Patlabor 2: The Movie were initially released in 1989 and 1993, respectively. The films, directed by Mamoru Oshii, are part of the Patlabor franchise, which is known for its realistic approach to mecha and centers around a police force.
A new animation project titled Patlabor EZY was announced in 2017. An update from last year indicated that Yutaka Izubuchi (Patlabor mechanical designer, RahXephon director, Metallic Rouge chief supervisor) will be directing at J.C.STAFF, with the project set to launch in 2026.
