Netflix states that the series will include “twelve 13-minute episodes, highlighting the experiences and development of these charming characters.”

In Mariland, My Melody opens a thriving cake shop alongside her friends Flat and Piano, attracting customers daily. On the other hand, Kuromi’s Japanese sweets shop across the street remains deserted, igniting her ambition to surpass My Melody’s establishment. One day, My Melody discovers a pink heart in the forest, triggering a series of unusual events in Mariland — and both characters must confront a crisis that jeopardizes everyone. Can they safeguard their town and their friends?
My Melody and Kuromi are commemorating their 50th and 20th anniversaries, respectively, this year.

WIT STUDIO unveiled plans for a stop-motion studio in March 2021, following the release of the stop-motion short Candy Caries. Candy Caries and My Melody & Kuromi are directed by Tomoki Misato (Pui Pui Molcar).
Animate Times previously reported that WIT STUDIO’s stop-motion division was established in December 2020.
