Additionally, it was announced that SynergySP will take over as the animation production studio for the new series, succeeding Lerche. Furthermore, the opening song “No tears here” by Minori Chihara will debut at Animelo Summer Live 2025 “ThanXX!”.
Magical Girl Raising Project: Restart serves as a sequel to the original Magical Girl Raising Project from 2016, and is based on the light novel series authored by Asari Endo and illustrated by Marui-no. The title refers to the second and third volumes of the light novel series, which are designed as a two-part read. According to Yen Press, the description of the first volume is:
The hit social network game “The Magical Girl Raising Project” selects one out of every tens of thousands of players to become a real life magical girl. The lucky chosen girls gain magic powers as well as incredibly good fortune, and spend their days blissfully. But one day, an absolute announcement declares that the number of magical girls has risen too high and must be cut down to half. Sixteen young maidens are thrust into a merciless, deadly contest to survive…but how many will come out the other side?

The light novel series, published under TAKARAJIMASHA’s Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! bunko label, began in 2012 and has reached 18 volumes as of November 2023. It has also inspired various manga adaptations. The announcement of Magical Girl Raising Project: Restart was made in 2023.
