“I want to learn to love myself—just the way I am!”
Renako Amaori, previously a shy and socially awkward girl, has transformed herself for high school and made her debut. She even managed to gain entry into the popular group… only to be suddenly confessed to by two of its brightest stars?! One is the ultimate prince of the school, Mai Oduka. The other, the beloved angel of the campus, Ajisai Sena.
There’s no way she can manage both their affections—no freaking way! While still trying to figure out her response, Renako agrees to help her friend Kaho by participating in a cosplay event. This seems like the perfect excuse to postpone her answer… or so she thought. However, as she sees Kaho’s passion firsthand, something starts to awaken within her.
What is it that she genuinely desires? What is she truly seeking?
Can she really not become anyone’s lover?
Or has that “no freaking way”… not been as impossible as it seemed?
The first season of There’s No Freaking Way I’ll be Your Lover! Unless… premiered during the Summer 2025 anime season. The series is adapted from the light novel series published by Shueisha, written by Teren Mikami and illustrated by Eku Takeshima, which Seven Seas Entertainment describes as:
Awkward, introverted Amaori Renako is determined to leave behind her lonely middle school life and become an outgoing, popular high schooler. Glamorous, confident Oduka Mai is Renako’s total opposite: wealthy, carefree, and a literal fashion model. Against all odds, the two girls quickly bond. Renako believes she may have found the best friend of her dreams…until Mai’s love confession sends her emotions into a spin. Renako wants to demonstrate to Mai that being BFFs is far better than being girlfriends, but Mai is resolute in convincing Renako that they are meant to be lovers!
