The TV anime adaptation of Kana Yoshimura’s MURCIÉLAGO is set to start its broadcast and streaming in January 2027. This announcement was revealed at Anime NYC, refining the previously stated 2027 release timeframe. The adaptation was first announced in July during Anime Expo 2026.
HIDIVE has also confirmed that January 2027 will be the release date for its exclusive simulcast in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.
The adaptation will be directed by Takashi Naoya (Am I Actually the Strongest?, Tales of Wedding Rings) as chief director, with Matsuo Asami taking on the director role. The anime is jointly produced by Satelight and Staple Entertainment.

MURCIÉLAGO has been serialized by Square Enix since August 2013, and the manga has surpassed 2.3 million copies in circulation worldwide, with 28 volumes available in Japan and 26 internationally. The storyline follows Kuroko Koumori, a former death row inmate who is chosen through extraordinary legal means to be a government-sanctioned executioner. Partnered with expert driver Hinako Tozakura, they investigate and eliminate some of society’s most dangerous criminals in a thrilling crime-action narrative that combines dark humor, action, and horror.
