Voice actress Asami Seto is now part of the voice cast for the ongoing My Hero Academia: Vigilantes TV anime as Makoto Tsukauchi. The series is set to premiere in Japan on April 7, 2025, and will consist of 13 episodes.
Seto joins a main voice cast that features:
Makoto Tsukauchi’s character was also highlighted in a preview video for the anime’s seventh episode, which airs on May 19, 2025.
Kenichi Suzuki (Fairy Gone, Cells At Work!, Drifters) is at the helm of the anime, with Yosuke Kuroda (My Hero Academia) serving as the series screenwriter, Takahiko Yoshida (Cells At Work!, Sorcerous Stabber Orphen [2020]) as character designer, Haruko Nobori (From Bureaucrat to Villainess: Dad’s Been Reincarnated!) as color designer, Yukihiro Watanabe (Fuuto PI) as background art director, and Eiei Cho (T・P BON) as compositing director. Animation production is being handled by BONES FILM.
Additional staff members include Yingying Zhang as director of photography (The Case Study of Vanitas), Mizuki Sasaki (My Hero Academia season 5-7) as 3DCG director, Kiyoshi Hirose (Fire Force) as editor, and Masafumi Mima (My Hero Academia, Attack on Titan) as sound director. Music composition is by Yuki Hayashi (My Hero Academia, Haikyu!!), Shogo Yamashiro, and Yuki Furuhashi.
The anime is inspired by the superhero manga series authored by Hideyuki Furuhashi and illustrated by Betten Court. It is a spinoff prequel to Kohei Horikoshi’s My Hero Academia series, taking place five years prior to the main storyline. The manga was initially serialized in Shueisha’s Jump Giga magazine on August 20, 2016, then transitioned to Shonen Jump+ in October 2016. It concluded on May 28, 2022, having released a total of 15 tankobon volumes.
A recent special one-shot chapter of the manga was published on Shonen Jump+ in April 2025.
The primary My Hero Academia anime series will air its final season in October 2025. The first season debuted in 2016, with the latest seventh season airing in May 2024. Bones has produced animation for all previous seasons.
My Hero Academia: Vigilantes is available for streaming on Crunchyroll worldwide, excluding Asia, with new episodes releasing weekly, concurrently with Japan. Netflix, Ani-One Asia ULTRA, and Bilibili are also streaming the series outside of Japan.
