Fans are in for a thrilling, high-fantasy anime experience next month, based on the newly released “action trailer” for That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Tears of the Azure Sea. The dynamic preview arrives just in time for the film’s launch in U.S. and Canadian theaters starting May 1, distributed by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Helmed by Yasuhito Kikuchi (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Infinite Stratos, Macross Frontier), this feature-length film (rated PG-13) serves as a stand-alone side story that follows the aftermath of Season 3 of the That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime anime series. The film will be shown in both its original Japanese language with English subtitles, as well as in an English dubbed format. Tickets are available now at slime-movie-2.com.
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, which first appeared in 2018, narrates the story of Minami Satoru, an ordinary 37-year-old who meets his end and is reincarnated into the most mundane creature possible — a slime. The fourth season of the series launched on Crunchyroll on April 3.

Synopsis: After the opening ceremony of the Demon Kingdom Federation Tempest, Rimuru and his team receive an invitation from the Celestial Emperor Elmesia of the grand elven nation — the Magi Dynasty Thalion — to visit her exclusive resort island. While the group enjoys a short respite, a mysterious figure named Yura arrives. A fresh incident transpires against the vast blue sea backdrop.
Longtime series director Kikuchi takes the helm from a script co-written with Toshizo Nemoto (Ultraman franchise, Helck, Log Horizon), with inspiration drawn from the light novel and story concept crafted by the original creator Fuse. The animation production is handled by Eightbit (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Blue Lock, The Irregular at Magic High School).
As earlier noted, the English dub cast comprises Allegra Clark as Yura, Ryan Reynolds as Gobta, Brittney Karbowski as Rimuru, Christopher Corey Smithas Zodon, Yuri Lowenthal as Djeese, among others.
