©野田サトル／集英社 ©2026映画「ゴールデンカムイ」製作委員会Golden Kamuy is set to make its big-screen comeback in live-action on March 13, 2026 JST with Golden Kamuy: Abashiri Kangoku Shuugeki-hen, which has unveiled a teaser trailer and teaser visual.
Tsutomu Kuroiwa returns as screenwriter, while the direction is handled by Kenji Katagiri (Room Laundering).
©野田サトル／集英社 ©2026映画「ゴールデンカムイ」製作委員会The initial live-action Golden Kamuy film premiered in January 2024. A sequel drama series, Renzoku Drama W Golden Kamuy -Hokkaido Shisei Shuujin Soudatsu-hen-, followed in the fall of that year consisting of nine episodes.
The original Golden Kamuy manga by Satoru Noda was serialized from 2014 to 2022 and compiled into 31 tankobon volumes. It ran in Shueisha’s seinen magazine Weekly Young Jump. Viz Media summarizes the manga as:
In the early twentieth century, Russo-Japanese War veteran Saichi “Immortal” Sugimoto struggles to make a living during the postwar gold rush in the wilds of Hokkaido. Upon discovering a map leading to a hidden fortune in Ainu gold, he embarks on a perilous journey to find it. However, Sugimoto is not the sole seeker, and those aware of the gold are willing to kill to claim it! Confronted by the harsh realities of the northern wilderness, merciless criminals, and rogue Japanese soldiers, Sugimoto will require all his skills and luck—with assistance from an Ainu girl named Asirpa—to prevail.

A TV anime adaptation launched in 2018 and is set to return in January 2026 with its fifth season, Golden Kamuy: The Final Chapter. Prior to that, a two-part theatrical preview of the new season titled Golden Kamuy: Sapporo Beer Kojo-hen will debut in October 2025.
