The You and Idol TV series, which marks the latest addition to the Pretty Cure magical girl franchise, debuted in February. The premise of the TV anime is summarized by Crunchyroll as follows:
Middle school student Uta Sakura adores singing at every opportunity. However, her passion turns into something greater when she encounters Purirun, a fairy from a homeland now shrouded in darkness. The Chokkiri Gang has overtaken her land, stealing the sparkle from its people. Determined to assist, Uta transforms into the legendary guardian Cure Idol and pledges to reclaim their sparkle through her songs.
