The upcoming Private Tutor to the Duke’s Daughter TV anime has unveiled a main trailer (marked as an official teaser in English) and main visual in anticipation of its July 5 JST (effectively July 6 at 1:30 AM JST) debut.
Private Tutor to the Duke’s Daughter is based on the fantasy series by Riku Nanano, which started as a Kakuyomu web novel in 2017 and later transitioned into a light novel series published under KADOKAWA’s Fantasia Bunko label. J-Novel Club summarizes the books’ storyline as follows:
After not succeeding in the final exam for his aspiration at the royal court, promising young sorcerer Allen longs to escape to a peaceful life in the countryside. However, he can’t even manage the train fare! His only option is to find a job, but his one opportunity is rather grand—Duke Howard, one of the most influential nobles in the kingdom, requires a private tutor for his daughter Tina. Though academically exceptional, Tina cannot cast even a single spell. To compound the situation, entrance examinations for the elite Royal Academy are approaching, and magical ability is essential! Can Allen utilize his distinct form of spellcasting to aid Tina in overcoming her magical deficit, a challenge that even the kingdom’s most distinguished sorcerers have been unable to unravel? And does her father, the duke, truly wish for him to assist her?
The light novels, illustrated by cura, began release in 2018 and have reached 19 volumes by April 2025. A manga adaptation by Tamura Muto also exists.
Crunchyroll will be streaming the anime.
