Riders from across the globe converge in the Wild West for the race of the century! Johnny Joestar, a former jockey paralyzed from the waist down, comes to observe, and briefly regains the ability to walk while witnessing a duel between Gyro Zeppeli. Steel Ball Run was published from 2004 to 2011 and was first serialized in Shonen Jump before transitioning to the monthly, seinen magazine Ultra Jump. This Manga is Amazing! highlighted that the transition allowed for longer narratives (due to the larger page count) and the freedom to include elements that might have been challenging to feature in a shonen magazine. Future Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure installments are also titles in Ultra Jump.

The Steel Ball Run anime comes after 2022’s Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean.
