©Rumiko Takahashi, Shogakukan/Ranma1/2 ProjectA fresh trailer and a key visual for Ranma 1/2 Season 2 have been unveiled. The trailer features a glimpse of the Wednesday Campanella opening theme song “Wo Ai Ni” (“I Love You” in Mandarin) alongside scenes from a Romeo and Juliet performance involving Ranma and Akane.
Netflix has also confirmed that the series will launch on its platform on October 4 — it was previously announced that the anime will premiere in Japan on October 4 JST (effectively October 5 at 12:55 AM JST), followed by its Netflix release.
It has also been revealed that the Ranma 1/2 soundtrack will be available on November 24 JST.
Ranma 1/2 Season 2 continues from last year’s Ranma 1/2 anime remake. The plot for the first season is summarized as follows:
Ranma Saotome and Akane Tendo of Tendo Dojo are engaged to each other by their families. However, Ranma experiences a distinctive challenge… After falling into the cursed springs of Jusenkyo while training in China, he now has the unusual ability to transform into a girl when hit with cold water and turn back into a boy with hot water.

The anime is adapted from the manga created by Rumiko Takahashi, which first appeared in the 36th 1987 issue of Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday, concluding in the 12th 1996 issue of the magazine. The new Ranma 1/2 anime marks the second remake of a Takahashi manga, following the four-cour Urusei Yatsura anime.
The manga previously inspired an 18-episode anime that aired in 1989. Following that, Ranma ½: Netto-hen aired from 1989 to 1992, consisting of 143 episodes.
The earlier adaptations were created by Studio Deen, with Atsuko Nakajima (Komi Can’t Communicate, Haven’t You Heard? I’m Sakamoto, Trinity Blood) serving as character designer. Tsutomu Shibayama (Chibi Maruko-chan co-director) directed the initial series, while Koji Sawai (.hack//Legend of the Twilight) and Junji Nishimura (Vlad Love, Extreme Hearts) co-directed Netto-hen.
Viz Media releases printed volumes of the manga in English.
