New cast members have been revealed:

• Akira Ishida as Hikaru Gosunkugi
The new Ranma 1/2 anime began airing in Japan in October 2025. The romantic action-comedy anime’s synopsis states:
Ranma Saotome and Akane Tendo of Tendo Dojo are betrothed to each other by their parents. But Ranma faces a unique problem… Ever since he fell into the cursed springs of Jusenkyo while training in China, his body has acquired the peculiar trait of transforming into a girl when doused with cold water and reverting to a boy with hot water.
Ranma 1/2 is adapted from the manga by Rumiko Takahashi, which premiered in the 36th 1987 issue of Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday and concluded in the 12th 1996 issue of the magazine. The manga originally inspired an 18-episode anime that aired in 1989, followed by Ranma ½: Nettou-hen, which continued from 1989 to 1992 and consisted of 143 episodes.

The previous adaptations were handled by Studio Deen, with character design by Atsuko Nakajima (Komi Can’t Communicate, Haven’t You Heard? I’m Sakamoto, Trinity Blood). Tsutomu Shibayama (Chibi Maruko-chan co-director) directed the first series, while Koji Sawai (.hack//Legend of the Twilight) and Junji Nishimura (Vlad Love, Extreme Hearts) co-directed Nettou-hen.
