©2024 鴨志田 一/KADOKAWA/青ブタ ProjectAfter a 2018 TV series, one 2019 movie, two 2023 films, and a Fall 2025 TV anime, the Rascal Does Not Dream anime series is set to receive a new movie installment titled Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend (Seishun Butayaro wa Dear Friend no Yume o Minai) to conclude the story.
An announcement trailer was made public for the movie, which is set to premiere in 2026.
Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend serves as the title for the original light novel series’ 15th and final main volume, which was published in Japanese in October 2024 and is expected to see an English release from Yen Press on January 6, 2026. Here’s what Yen Press has disclosed about the book’s synopsis at this point:
“I’m glad I met you.”

The principal staff lineup for the Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend movie has not been announced, but the Rascal Does Not Dream anime series has so far retained director Soichi Masui, series composer Masahiro Yokotani, character designer Satomi Tamura, and music composer fox capture plan throughout its adaptations. The animation production studio for the adaptations is CloverWorks.
The cast members have featured Kaito Ishikawa as Sakuta Azusagawa, Asami Seto as Mai Sakurajima, Reina Ueda as Miniskirt Santa/Toko Kirishima, and Manaka Iwami as Miori Mito.
The Rascal Does Not Dream light novel series originates from the duo of Hajime Kamoshida (writer) and Keji Mizoguchi (illustrator) known for The Pet Girl of Sakurasou. The Dengeki Bunko series follows protagonist Sakuta Azusagawa as he engages with individuals facing supernatural dilemmas, starting with his high school senior Mai Sakurajima and her invisibility challenge. The first volume, Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai, was released in 2014, and a collection of short stories was published in July 2025.
Crunchyroll and Prime Video are among the platforms providing streaming access to the Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai TV anime; the Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl, Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out, and Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid movies, as well as the Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus TV anime.
