However, there is a silver lining: the Episode 1 special screening of the series at Anime NYC unveiled a new visual, featuring teenage Shizuka and Marina sharing a lively moment. Check it out below:

Takopi‘s Original Sin is based on the manga by TAIZAN 5, which started serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump+ in 2021 and released its concluding volume in 2022. MangaPlus outlines the premise as:
Takopi travels from his home of Happy Planet to spread happiness across Earth, but encounters the frowning Shizuka upon arrival. Her friends at school and her home life seem to contribute to her somber demeanor, and the kind-hearted Takopi is determined to improve her situation! But what revelations await him when the story unfolds in this shocking drama?!
Shinya Ino (Dr. STONE and Dr. STONE STONE WARS director, Made in Abyss assistant director etc.) directed the series at ENISHIYA and also took charge of the series composition. The primary cast includes Kurumi Mamiya as Takopi, Reina Ueda as Shizuka, and Konomi Kohara as Marina.
