Ⓒ米澤穂信・東京創元社／小市民シリーズ製作委員会A second trailer has been unveiled for SHOSHIMIN: How to become Ordinary Season 2 in anticipation of its upcoming arc, “Touki Gentei Bonbon Chocolat Jiken” (The Winter-limited Bonbon Chocolat Incident). A promotional visual for the new arc was also shared.
The new trailer opens with Kobato being struck by a vehicle. In the hospital, Kengo comments that he’s aware of an accident at that spot, which prompts a flashback three years into the past (to Kobato’s third year in middle school) showcasing one of Kobato’s early investigations and his first meeting with Osanai.

Kobato resolves to become a straightforward, modest citizen following a challenging experience termed “wisdom work.” He enters a partnership with Osanai, his classmate sharing the same aspiration, as they intend to pursue high school while leading unassuming lives. Yet, inexplicable occurrences and catastrophes seem to consistently unfold around them. Will Kobato and Osanai ever find the tranquility of an ordinary life?
The anime is inspired by the SHOSHIMIN Series created by Hyouka’s Honobu Yonezawa, published by Tokyo Sogensha Sougen’s Suiri Bunko label, which released four primary volumes from 2004 to 2009. A collection of short stories came out in 2020, followed by a new novel in April 2024. The first two volumes have led to manga adaptations.
