Can I bring perfume to Japan?
Travelers to Japan should be aware of regulations surrounding bringing perfume into the country. Visitors are allowed to bring up to 2 ounces (60ml) of perfume duty-free, but any amount over this limit will be subject to customs duty. Perfumes containing ambergris or musk, as well as those with more than 30% alcohol, are prohibited in Japan due to their ingredients. Travelers should check the ingredients list and alcohol content before packing their favorite fragrance and be mindful of wearing it in public spaces where others may have allergies or sensitivities.
